SIP FROM THE LIVING PORTALS... Gleanings from 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12 (Part 4) Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth (2 Thessalonians 1: 1-3). Beloved, we know that one of the major benefits of coming to the knowledge of GOD is that we are equipped with divine strength that empowers us to do great exploits for God. Daniel 11:32 says And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. But, another very powerful benefit of knowing God is enjoying grace and peace. While we know that there are dimensions of peace that this world and its fullness give, we know that such peace is nothing compared to the peace that comes only from God. John 14:27 says Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. The peace that comes from this world is temporal. It does not satisfy to the uttermost. It gives momentary satisfaction and then fades away, only to return you to a worse state than where you were. This is why some people turn to vices with the hope that they will provide relief from their overwhelming situation. Beloved, true peace only comes from God. Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and only He can give you the peace your heart so desperately yearns for. Come to Him today and obtain rest for your soul. There is peace in Christ!
