SIP FROM THE LIVING PORTALS... Gleanings from 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12 (Part 6)
Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth (2 Thessalonians 1: 1-3).
Beloved, Paul informed the brethren at Thessalonica that they (the apostles) are bound to thank God always for the brethren as it is meet.
The amplified version renders it as 'We ought always and indeed are morally obligated [as those in debt] to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is FITTING'...
This morning, our attention is focused on our moral obligation of giving thanks to God for all things at all times.
Paul even saw this not just as a mere obligation, but as a debt he owes God. We must also remember that we owe God a debt of gratitude, and He expects us to repay this debt at all times.
While it is good to give thanks to God for all He has done for us, the principal reason we should always thank God is because of who He is and who He is to us.
As you step out today, remember who God is and give thanks to Him. Remember who He is to you and pay the debt you owe Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
It is your duty, your moral obligation to give thanks to God. Thank Him today and always.
Pay what you owe!
